Unemployment
December 14th, 2007 11:27 AM

In this trying time of foreclosures and mortgage companies going out of business I am grateful to still have my job.

I have a friend that is not so lucky.  She has been out of work since June, she is almost 50 and has been in this industry for over 25 years.  She can't even find a job today.

She was at least collecting unemployment until November when they told her that her benefits had run out.

I have to ask, how can her benefits run out when this woman has worked for 28 years.  Having never collected unemployment in her entire life and she can only collect for 5 months?

Having not collected myself, I am shocked at this!

She has been told she was over qualified for many positions.  She has diligently looked for work and then this.

Who devised this system?  How can we fix it?  If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear from you to pass them on to her.
